Queens High School Student, Stasa Tucker, a dancer from the renowned Denise Henderson Studio of Jazz, Tap, & Musical Theatre, is set to take the global stage at the prestigious Dance World Cup Competition in Burgos, Spain.
Stasa travelled to Adelaide earlier this month and joined many dancers from New Zealand and Australia competing to qualify. Stasa won a spot to travel with the Australian Team representing New Zealand – gaining the top marks over the whole competition for her qualifying dances.
“I’m beyond excited to represent my studio, my school, and my community on an international stage,” said Stasa. “Dancing has always been my passion, and having this opportunity to showcase myself among the world’s best is truly a dream come true. I couldn’t have done it without the incredible choreography and coaching from my teacher Denise Henderson.
”After the World Cup Qualifying Competition, Stasa continued her success at the Follow Your Dreams competition in Adelaide. She danced alongside some of New Zealand and Australia’s top dancers. She came home with five 1st Place Trophies and two 2nd Place Trophies in the Australia and New Zealand National Competition. She was 2nd Runner Up in the Champion Dancer competition where she danced alongside many genres such as ballet, hip hop, jazz and tap dancers.
The Dance World Cup Finals, which are held annually in a different location, has over 120,000 dancers from around the world to qualify to represent their country. This year’s competition in Spain, brings together top representative dancers from across the globe, providing a platform for young talent to shine, while fostering cultural exchange and artistic excellence. Competitors will perform in a variety of styles, and Stasa will be showcasing her expertise in multiple disciplines, hoping to bring home top honors.
